Em turned 2 on Tuesday. Unreal! She's so much fun and a pleasure to be around. I can't believe how fast it went though. I know everyone says it goes fast but man! It sure did!
She went to the doc's today for her 2yr checkup, Chris took her. She weighed 27lb and 34.5inches tall, 75% in both height and weight. The nurse and doctor were very impressed with her and her development and we couldn't be happier & prouder of her.
We had her birthday party on the weekend, it was Cat in the Hat/Dr Seuss. We had a great time and it turned out awesome. We did Hat skewers (red strawberries and white marshmallows), green (deviled with green food colouring) eggs and ham (& cheese sliders), fish (goldfish crackers), Truffula fruit (fruit and veggies), and Pink Yink Ink Drink (raspberry lemonade w/ blueberries punch). And pizza & cake. The cake was AMAZING! Sweet n Lovely Creations in Peterborough made it and it was affordable, gorgeous and delicious. I will post a few pics from the party. I was so happy on how it worked out. Everyone gave lots of compliments and all the kids had a great time.
I had Dr Seuss sayings printed and up all over the walls, from all different books. I LOVED that part. Everywhere anyone went there were some to read. So cheap and easy and looked great. I freehand drew a large Cat and printed a bunch of Hats for the kids to play Pin the Hat on the Cat - they loved it! It was a LOT of fun! I had large Cat in the Hat balloons and two red and white balloon tree things from Buck or Two in the mall in Lindsay, they were a great addition. I ended up making her Happy Birthday Em banner too, and printed up Cat in the Hat colouring & activity books from pbs.org where they had all the pages there for printing. I had Dr Seuss favour boxes, Cat crayons, Hat bouncy balls, Hat stickers, and colour coded jelly beans in glass vases on the table for decoration. As you can see in the table pic. I made up small bags of the candies for the favour boxes as well. I had a great time and spent a lot of TIME on this party which is kind of silly as she won't remember it but she had fun and everyone else did too. I likely - I say this now - won't do this type of thing again while she's so young but I started and went with it this year. It was fun. She is wearing a tutu I won last year in an auction, I figured why not? When else will she be able to wear a tutu?!? lol
Anyway we are all recovering from a cold right now, not the best week but I've been off three days of it - Mon & Tues were booked and today I had to call in sick, I was awful this morning. Slept from 740am to 1230pm so apparently I needed it, I feel a bit better now. I should be able to go in tomorrow. Chris is feeling better too though we both sound like death haha. Anyway should get going. I think my next blog will be about my newfound cloth diaper-buying obsession...eek! (though they are so cute and it's so fun!)
